St Helena Branch Library
St. Helena Branch Library
Located in the historic Penn Center Campus on St. Helena Island, the St. Helena Branch Library has been recognized with multiple design awards and is LEED Silver certified. Before design work began, our survey team conducted full tree and topographic surveys of the 25-acre Penn Center campus. The archaeology and wetland studies that our engineers performed were critical in identifying sites that required preservation and protection. This, along with wetlands and other environmental factors, made sensitive land planning and site layout essential. Stormwater management consisted of bioswales, pervious parking, and dry detention facilities. The innovative BMPs employed exceeded local, state, federal, and LEED requirements. Water and sewer upgrades and expansion included 4,000 linear feet of waterline for potable and fire protection as well as 1,100 linear feet of gravity sewer. Our construction manager provided site inspections, SWPPP inspections, and saw the construction through to project closeout and final certification.
